Christopher Paige MS, DVM, DACVIM (Cardiology)
Dr. Christopher Paige has always been passionate about animals. Today, he is proud to put that passion to work as a veterinary cardiologist who's been in the field for over 12 years. Dr. Paige is board-certified in Cardiology by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM). For more than nine years, he has worked in private specialty practices in Mesa, Phoenix, and Flagstaff, Arizona, where he offers full, interventional cardiology services.
In 2012, Dr. Paige was recruited into cardiovascular research at a global human medical device company and temporarily left private practice for preclinical medical device research. In 2014, he started a mobile practice to provide veterinary cardiology services to Flagstaff, AZ, and surrounding areas of Northern Arizona. For the past 4 years, he also remains an adjunct clinical faculty member at Midwestern College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM). In August 2016, Dr. Paige opened Valley Veterinary Cardiology to offer the Valley's first cardiology-specific practice dedicated to patient, client, and primary care veterinarian support. Aside from mobile practice, he has stationary practices at various specialty hospitals in Arizona (Mesa, Phoenix, and Glendale). In collaboration with Dr. Jason Eberhardt (Internal Medicine Specialist), Dr. Paige opened Valley Veterinary Internal Medicine to expand the mobile veterinary specialty services. In 2018, he also opened AZVETIDEAS, which is a veterinary medical device consulting company.
After being a dedicated client of world-renowned human and veterinary ambulatory monitoring service, the opportunity had recently become available for Dr. Paige to maintain this high-quality service specifically dedicated to veterinary patients. Most importantly, many of the previous employees (technicians) from this large human ambulatory service have also joined Dr. Paige to help create AxisVet.

Jonathan Abbott DVM, DACVIM (Cardiology)
Dr. Abbott received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph and trained in veterinary cardiology at the University of Florida and at North Carolina State University. Dr. Abbott was board certified in the Specialty of Cardiology by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in 1993. Prior to his appointment at the University of Tennessee, where he is currently Associate Professor of Veterinary Cardiology, Dr. Abbott held faculty positions at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, Virginia Tech, and the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Abbott is a past president of the ACVIM Specialty of Cardiology and serves as a member of the Journal of Cardiology Editorial Board. He has published in diverse subject areas within the topic of veterinary cardiology. In 2018, Dr. Abbott joined Valley Veterinary Cardiology as a consultant. On October 2019, he was appointed on the medical advisory board of AxisVet.
Matthew W. Miller, DVM, MS, DACVIM (Cardiology)
Dr. Miller received his DVM degree from The Ohio State University in 1984 and his Masters of Science degree from the same university in 1993. He completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at the West Los Angeles Veterinary Medical Group from 1984-1985 and a cardiology residency at the Ohio State University from 1985-1988. He became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology) in 1988. He served on the faculty of the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences from 1988-2014 where he achieved the position of full professor with tenure. He served as the director of the Texas A&M University Institute for Preclinical Studies (TIPS) from 2012 to 2014. He is a Charter Fellow of the Michael E. DeBakey Institute of Comparative Cardiovascular Science and Biomedical Devices and is the director of the Cardiology Clinical Service at VETMED consultants in Phoenix, Arizona. On December 2019, he was appointed on the medical advisory board of AxisVet.
Arthur Clark BA/CCT has a long history of care and concern in ancillary human and veterinary cardiology with training under Welsh cardiologist Robert Marshall and veterinary cardiologist Clay Calvert and many others. For a number of years, he has been the lead technician at LabCorp Cardiac Services in Holter monitoring - Human and Veterinary. He is also familiar with ambulatory BP/event monitoring and a resource person for technician training and assistance, including pacemakers. He has taken a great interest in assessing veterinary Holters for veterinarians all over the U.S., Britain, France, and Spain; this includes many university veterinary teaching hospitals and research facilities, including the Henry Ford Research Foundation. Well versed in Canine, Feline, and Equine Holters, he is looking forward to continuing helping patients at Axis Vet!
Barbara Pearson, Certified Cardiology Technician through Cardiovascular Credentialing International. Barbara began working as an EKG technician at Duke University Medical Center in 1997, where she was trained. She has received training as an EKG technician at Alamance Community College as well as multiple refresher courses throughout the years. She has worked as a cardiology technician since 1999, doing EKG, Holter monitoring, and stress testing at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Barbara has been scanning Holter monitors for humans and animals for LabCorp since 2017. She has over 20 years of collective experience in noninvasive diagnostic cardiology testing.
Karen Samuel is a Cardiac Technician III and has been reading EKG’s since 1985. She became a Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) from Credentialing International in Raleigh, North Carolina. Karen has experience reading EKG’s on both humans and animals, and she worked in the critical care unit as a telemetry clerk and ward secretary reading EKG’s and completing medical secretary duties. She was also a medical secretary with Alamance Regional Medical Center in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Karen enjoys shopping and traveling out of state during her free time.
He has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry. For the past 10 years, he worked as a cardiograph technician under Arthur Clark in the Ambulatory Monitoring Department of Laboratory Corporations of America. He interpreted both human and veterinary monitoring studies from all over the world. These studies included patient event monitoring, telemetry monitoring, Holter monitoring and ambulatory blood pressure studies. He has a vast amount of experience in canine and feline Holter studies. He is very proud to be a part of Axis Vet and continuing to help patients all over the world.
Laura Dishon enjoyed many years as a licensed Veterinary Medical Technician and working in Wildlife Rehabilitation in NC. She received her certification for cardiology technician and has been reading primarily veterinary EKG studies, as well as human studies, for the last 17 years.
Laura enjoys pet sitting, swimming, and traveling. Some of her favorite destinations are Ireland, Florida, and the NC coast. She is also an avid reader and enjoys a good mystery!
Dominique has been in the veterinary field since 2018 and currently serves as the service coordinator for AxisVet. She also works for Valley Veterinary Cardiology and Internal Medicine under Dr. Paige. She is channeling her passion
to help animals by studying for her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences. Dominique enjoys Netflix marathon nights with her cat, Boo, and can also be found playing volleyball with friends.
